Jakarta ( WNAM MONITORING):  Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, expressed his country’s readiness to help Indonesia strengthen food and energy security, two priority agendas in the Astacita vision of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.

“I declared that Iran is ready, Iranian companies are ready to help in that area,” said Boroujerdi in a special interview.

He said that Iran-Indonesia diplomatic relations for almost 76 years have strengthened cooperation in the fields of politics, international relations, culture, religion, and economics.

“We believe that it’s not enough, but still we have a lot of capacity to take care of it,” he said.

The Indonesian government under President Prabowo has promoted Astacita as eight strategic visions, including strengthening food and energy security to promote national independence.

Regarding this, Boroujerdi emphasized that Iran is ready to support the achievement of this agenda through concrete collaboration in both sectors.

He called Iran one of the important countries in the region and globally in the fields of energy and food security, with experience and resources to share.

He stated that Iran is currently opening channels for discussion and negotiation with a number of Indonesian companies to realize cooperation opportunities.

“In the field of food security, we have paved some steps to reach the ideal cooperation between the two countries,” he said.

In the energy sector, Iran is ready to cooperate not only on oil and gas, but also on new and renewable energy.

Technically, Boroujerdi said, negotiations between Iranian and Indonesian companies are ongoing to finalize the partnership scheme.

He noted that a number of Iranian dairy, fruit, and food products were ready to enter the Indonesian market through local partners.

On the other hand, Indonesian companies are also exploring the possibility of expanding into Iran, and work with Iranian sides in the field of coffee and chocolate and others.

“So, we are negotiating right now and I hope that this negotiation will be very fruitful and we will witness the actual cooperation in the near future,” the ambassador said.
