OIC-COMSTECH Coordinator General visits University of Lahore discusses interdisciplinary research

ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT ): Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, visited the University of Lahore and held a series of meetings with senior university officials to deliberate on strategies for strengthening interdisciplinary research.

Prof. Dr. Choudhary met with Mr. Awais Raoof, Chairman Board of Governors University Of Lahore  Qasim Ali Shah, CEO Qasim Ali Shah Foundation ,Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Rector of the University of Lahore, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bilal Waqar, Dean Faculty of Sciences; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC) and Dr. Umer Younis, Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Research Centre.

The discussions focused on exploring avenues to promote interdisciplinary research within the university. Participants highlighted the importance of collaboration among various academic disciplines to address complex scientific and societal challenges. Emphasis was also laid on enhancing research capacity, strengthening interdepartmental cooperation, and developing innovative research programmes integrating multiple fields of study.

Prof. Dr. Choudhary appreciated the University of Lahore’s initiatives aimed at advancing research and pointed to the potential for collaboration with COMSTECH in promoting scientific excellence and fostering international partnerships among member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The university leadership reaffirmed its commitment to promoting high-quality interdisciplinary research and agreed to explore future collaborative initiatives to further enhance research productivity and innovation.

The visit concluded with a mutual understanding to jointly develop effective strategies and programmes aimed at strengthening interdisciplinary research and contributing to scientific advancement in Pakistan and beyond.
