WNAM MONITORING: Iran’s judiciary on Tuesday rejected as “fake news” a claim by US President Donald Trump that eight women in the country were facing execution.

According to Mizan, the judiciary-affiliated news agency, a detailed review of the cases shows that some of the individuals cited by Trump have already been released, while others face charges that, if confirmed by courts, could result in prison sentences.

The outlet stressed that none of the individuals have a final verdict involving the death penalty.
Trump posted earlier on his Truth Social platform urging Iranian authorities to release the women, saying it would be “a great start” to upcoming negotiations.

The Mizan report said similar claims had circulated previously in anti-Iranian media, including arguments about individuals linked to unrest last year, but noted that such reports were later proven false or removed.
It added that in one case, a person previously reported missing during protests had in fact been released months earlier.

Trump “once again fell for fake news” and “baseless claims on social media,” Mizan said.

Iranian media have in recent months repeatedly denied reports of death sentences against various individuals, describing them as unfounded.
