Baku to host Second World AI Week

WNAM MONITORING: Baku will host the Second World AI Week this year, according to an announcement made at the first meeting of the Azerbaijan-US Economic Dialogue held in the Azerbaijani capital.

The meeting was organized as part of Baku Energy Week by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy and the US Department of State in accordance with the Charter on Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States.

With the participation of Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov and Caleb Orr, US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs, a number of documents and the Protocol of the Dialogue were signed in the areas of creating digital infrastructure in Azerbaijan, technology transfer and the application of efficient industrial solutions.

As part of the first Economic Dialogue, panel sessions were held on regional connectivity, trade and transit, energy security, investment, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. The first session discussed the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), the Middle Corridor, the expansion of regional logistics opportunities, Azerbaijan’s favorable business environment for investors, and new opportunities created for US companies by the country’s growing ties with Europe and Central Asia.

The energy security session reviewed opportunities for cooperation in the development of the Southern Gas Corridor, electricity connections and increasing energy production. The sides also discussed the diversification of supply chains, including critical mineral supply chains, and partnership in other areas.

The economic investment panel focused on promoting economic projects that serve the mutual prosperity of both peoples, including bilateral investment in transport and logistics, energy and digital technologies. The panel also discussed opportunities to promote US investment in various areas, including the Alat Free Economic Zone, which offers incentive mechanisms, advantages and a favorable legal regime for investors.

During discussions on artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, information was provided about US high-tech solutions. The sides reviewed cooperation on data centers and the application of artificial intelligence technologies, the development of regulatory frameworks and future partnership in this field. During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation, promoting mutual investment and supporting innovative projects.

A meeting with business circles was also held as part of the event, where the importance of developing private sector cooperation and establishing new partnerships was noted.
