Some British Parliamentarians are known for their wise cracks and witty remarks in the House of Commons which though apparently humorous contain a lot of wisdom.
Once a labour party woman MP addressing speaker of the House made a sarcastic dig at Winston Churchill by saying Mr. Speaker if Churchill was my husband I will put poison in his cup of coffee on which Churchill the then Conservative party Prime minister retorted by saying Mr. Speaker if this lady was my wife I would drink it.
Once a woman MP seeing Churchill heavily drunk told him Churchill you are heavily drunk to which he said you are ugly but tomorrow morning I will be sober but you would still be ugly.
The American President Rossevelet was Churchill,s friend. He was staying with him in the White House. One morning Rossevelet went to the room where Churchill was staying to have a chat when by chance Churchill came out of the wash room stark naked. Seeing him he turned his face, when Churchill said Come on Mr. President the British prime minister has nothing to hide from the American President.
Benjamin Disraeli was British Prime minister and Gladstone opposition leader. Once somebody asked Disraeli what is the difference between misfortune and calamity to which he said If Gladstone fell into River, Thames it would be misfortune but if he was dragged out by somebody it would be a calamity.
