Jerusalem is perhaps, the only old city of the world which has seen many ups and downs and bore the brunt of extreme bloody attacks of Romans crusaders, Muslims , Alexander and Babylonians. During the last 5000 years it was ransacked and destroyed umpteen times only to be rebuilt again and again. The Ottoman rulers also devastated it. Since it was a place of reverence for Muslims, Christians and Jews alike all of them tried and retried to establish their writ on it. Needless to say that during the past 5000 years Muslims ruled it for 3000 years, Christains 300 and Jews 400 years. Muslims revered it because Prophet Mohammed PBUH started his Mairaj journey from here. The Christians believe that Jesus Christ died in this city. Jews rever it because their prophets David and Soloman were born and raised there.
Many political observers believe peace and tranquility in Jerusalem can only be achieved if Muslims Christians and Jews agree on a framework under which they are allowed to practice their respective faith without any let or hindrance from any body.
A secular type of judicial and administrative system of governance is put into effect and an armed force comprising Muslims, Jews and Christians is raised granted that this task would be difficult but it isn’t impossible. If all the super powers hit it off as this appears to be only way out to stop further blood letting in the middle east.
