ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): Secretary General of the Islamabad Estate Agents Association, Chaudhry Zahid Rafiq, has urged the federal government to introduce effective measures in the upcoming budget to reduce construction costs, enabling the construction sector to overcome its challenges and promoting building activities across the country.
He said that taxes and duties imposed on cement, steel bars (rebar), electrical equipment, and other construction materials should be reduced so that overall construction costs can be lowered. This would not only facilitate the development of large-scale projects but also make home construction more affordable for ordinary citizens.
He further stated that providing incentives to the construction sector would encourage greater investment, create new employment opportunities, and ultimately increase government revenue.
Zahid Rafiq emphasized that the construction industry is a vital pillar of the national economy, directly linked to dozens of industries and the livelihoods of millions of people. However, rising construction costs, heavy taxation, and the continuous increase in the prices of building materials have adversely affected the growth and development of the sector.
