The Russians had pinned great hopes on Putin when he came to power in the Kremlin that he will be instrumental in the renaissance of Moscow after the dismemberment of Soviet Union but hitherto he hasn’t shown any quality which could prove that he will be able to come up to the expectations of the Russians. If he couldn’t cut to size only one person, the president of Ukraine who has become too big for his boots what else can be expected from expected from him asks the common man in Russia.
Putin had better take a lesson from the Chinese leadership and try to understand how is government run If he won’t he will meet his Waterloo soon.
Both Soviet Union and China have been communist countries then why was no warmth in their relationship for a fairly long time after the conclusion of second world war? Many political pundits ascribe the coolness between them due to personality clash of their leadership. The Kremlin never wanted the leadership of communist bloc going into the hands of Mao Tse Tung whereas the Chinese leadership were of the view that the Soviet leaders after the demise of Lenin were too soft against the capitalist countries and were not sincere to propagation of Marxist economic theory. There was a hell of difference also in their diplomacy. The Kremlin wanted to push things with the use of stick only whereas Beijing believed in using both carrot and stick for extending its influence abroad. A case in point is Gwadar. Both Moscow and Beijing wanted to reach the warm waters of Gwadar. While the former failed to do so the latter with the sensible application of carrot without firing a single bullet succeeded in its pursuit. Today China has left Russia far behind in the art of diplomacy.
