WNAM MONITORING: Participants in the international congress “The First Turkological Congress: The Scientific and Cultural Heritage of 100 Years” held as part of the Turkic World Week toured Azerbaijan’s Shusha city.
The guests first visited the walls of the Shusha Fortress. There, they were given detailed information about the city’s history and the construction of its walls. They were informed that the fortress, built by the Karabakh Khan Panahali Khan, protected the city from external attacks for many years, becoming a symbol of its impregnability. After the city’s liberation from occupation, extensive restoration and conservation work was carried out in Shusha.
Then, the congress participants visited the city’s central square, where the monuments to prominent Azerbaijani figures Khurshidbanu Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibayli, which were destroyed, are located.
During the visit, the guests also visited the Khurshidbanu Natavan House Museum, the Khan Gizi Spring, and the Ganja Gate of the Shusha Fortress.
The guests were informed that the large-scale restoration and reconstruction work being carried out in Shusha, along with preserving the city’s historical and cultural heritage, is also contributing to its development as an international center of culture and science.
