Rawalpindi ( WNAM REPORT): Pakistan’s military has reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening defense cooperation with China as the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi marked the 99th founding anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong attended the ceremony as the guest of honour. China’s Defense Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, officials from the Chinese Embassy and senior officers from Pakistan’s tri-services were also present.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the Chinese delegation and congratulated the PLA on its 99th founding anniversary.
He paid tribute to the PLA’s contributions to China’s defense, national development and international peace and security. Highlighting the longstanding Pakistan-China relationship, Field Marshal Munir described the friendship between the two countries as unique and time-tested, saying it has remained steadfast despite evolving regional and global challenges.
He said the Pakistan Armed Forces and the PLA are “true partners”, bound by mutual trust, support and a shared commitment to regional peace, stability and the protection of common strategic interests.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Jiang thanked Field Marshal Munir for hosting the event and appreciated the Pakistan Armed Forces’ contributions and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
The Chinese ambassador reaffirmed Beijing’s support for Pakistan and its commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.
Pakistan and China maintain close defense ties through regular high-level military exchanges, joint exercises, training programs and cooperation in defense production.
