Wide-Ranging Agreements Show Continued Growth in Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Ties

Baku ( WNAM MONITORING): During her visit to Astana, MP of Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis Gunay Afandiyeva met with Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting featured an exchange of views on the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan partnership and integration processes across the Turkic world. Gunay Afandiyeva noted that the brotherly relations between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with their frequent mutual visits, provide strong momentum for comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

She emphasized the particular importance of the Azerbaijani President’s state visit to Uzbekistan on 23 August 2026 for the further development of strategic relations between the two states. Gunay Afandiyeva also drew attention to the signing by the two heads of state of the “Treaty on Eternal Friendship between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.” The MP described the document as another major symbol, in the modern era, of the historical ties and centuries-old friendship between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Ambassador Bakhtiyor Ibragimov highlighted the importance of the continued expansion of Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations. He noted that bilateral ties continue to develop dynamically on the basis of shared historical and cultural roots. The Ambassador stated that the numerous agreements signed across a wide range of areas reflect the continued development of the allied dialogue between the two countries.
