FPCCI Appoints Dr. Talat Shabbir as Advisor to President

WNAM REPORT: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has appointed Dr. Talat Shabbir, a distinguished scholar, policy analyst and international relations expert, as Advisor to the President of FPCCI, Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh.
The appointment comes as FPCCI expands its focus on economic diplomacy, international trade, investment promotion and stronger engagement with regional and global economic institutions.
As Pakistan’s apex private-sector representative body, FPCCI currently brings together 308 trade bodies, including 81 Chambers of Commerce and Industry, 32 Women’s Chambers, 19 Chambers of Small Traders, six Joint Chambers and 167 national trade associations, representing industry, trade and services across the country.
In his role, Dr. Shabbir will advise the FPCCI President on international trade, economic diplomacy, public policy and strategic global engagement. He will also support FPCCI’s interaction with government institutions, diplomatic missions, think tanks, international organizations and business forums to advance Pakistan’s trade and investment interests.
The appointment assumes particular significance as FPCCI strengthens Pakistan’s participation in international economic platforms, including the ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pakistan-EU Business Forum, CACCI, Pakistan-ASEAN Business Forum, Commonwealth, D-8 CCI and OIC-related business forums.
Welcoming the appointment, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said:

His expertise will strengthen FPCCI’s policy advocacy and support our efforts to expand Pakistan’s trade, investment and economic engagement with international partners.”

Dr. Shabbir brings extensive experience in international relations, strategic affairs, policy research and institutional engagement. His appointment will help connect FPCCI’s private-sector advocacy with the wider geopolitical and geo-economic environment shaping Pakistan’s economic opportunities.
The Federation said Dr. Shabbir’s appointment reflects its commitment to bringing experienced policy professionals and thought leaders into its advisory framework to strengthen private-sector competitiveness, economic diplomacy, export growth and Pakistan’s integration with regional and global markets.
Brief ceremony at FPCCI Capital Office was attended by key leadership including FPCCI’s Vice President Mr. Tariq Mehmood Jadoon and Incharge Capital Office Mr. Karim Aziz Malik.
