WNAM MONITORING: Russia may reconsider relations with Armenia, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said while answering the question at a briefing held on the sidelines of the 3rd Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
According to him, the Armenian side accuses the CSTO of leaving him alone: “But real cases show the opposite.”
“Work on the document on the formation of the mandate of the organization’s mission for deployment on the border with Azerbaijan was carried out until midnight at the event of the CSTO held in Yerevan. The document was actually a joint document of the ministers of foreign affairs and defense of the member countries. However, Nikol Pashinyan refused it the next day. According to Pashinyan, the reason for this was that the CSTO did not accuse Azerbaijan. But after that, in a very short time, Armenia allowed the mission of the European Union on the border. The EU did not accuse Azerbaijan either, but they did not object to it” Lavrov said.
Lavrov added that Yerevan prefers cooperation with countries outside the region: “If this is the case, the Armenian authorities should make a decision about all the formats in the region. We cannot impose a ban on Armenia. But the decision should be made by the people. After that, the Armenian authorities can announce a new policy course. Such a thing forces us to reconsider relations with Armenia. They should also comment on other forms of cooperation in the region,” S. Lavrov said.
