(WNAM Monitoring): According to the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade (MIIT), at the meeting, the dynamics of the development of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the AIIB, which significantly strengthened after the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the headquarters of the AIIB in January this year, were noted.
Following the visit, a Cooperation Program for financing joint projects worth $2.5 billion between Uzbekistan and the AIIB during 2024-2026 and a Memorandum on holding the AIIB Annual Meeting in Samarkand on September 25-26, 2024, were signed.
The parties reviewed the progress of implementing existing projects and prospects for joint implementation of new initiatives in energy, agriculture, transport, healthcare, and water supply included in the Cooperation Program for 2024-2026.
The preparation of the Ninth Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors in Samarkand city was discussed separately. Roadshows and presentations in different countries are planned, and a joint roadmap on organizational and substantive issues of the event will be developed.
Following the meeting, mutual readiness was expressed to take measures to increase the scope of cooperation, mainly to increase the volume of financial and technical assistance, and a format for further active interaction was developed as part of the timely implementation of the discussed projects and initiatives.
