RIYADH: The Saudi aid agency KSrelief has distributed food to thousands of people around the world.
The districts of Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur in Pakistan’s Punjab province received 925 food baskets from KSrelief, benefiting 6,475 people, as part of a food security project in Pakistan.
In Bangladesh, 500 food baskets were handed out to the neediest families in the Kishoreganj district, helping 2,500 people, as part of KSrelief’s Ramadan food basket project Etaam. A total of 15,700 baskets will be distributed to the needy during the holy month.
In South Africa’s Ekurhuleni district, KSrelief distributed 400 food baskets, while in the Matoto district of Guinea’s capital, Conakry, 567 parcels benefited 3,969 people.
The Saudi center also distributed 300 food baskets to people in need in Montenegro, benefiting 1,000 individuals. The project aims to distribute 8,700 food baskets containing essential food items to the most vulnerable groups during Ramadan.
In Benin, KSrelief distributed 600 food baskets, benefiting 3,600 individuals, and another 546 food baskets benefitting 3,276 people in Toujounine, Mauritania.
Since 2015, KSrelief has implemented 2,670 projects worth more than $6.5 billion in 95 countries, in cooperation with 175 local, regional and international partners. The bulk of the support has gone to Yemen ($4.3 billion), Syria ($391 million), Palestine ($370 million) and Somalia ($227 million).
KSrelief’s programs cover food security, health, sanitation, shelter, nutrition, education, telecommunications and logistics.
