(WNAM Monitoring): At today’s Government meeting Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov stressed the need to expand irrigated areas under crops, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The Prime Minister said timely sowing is key to bringing the best yields. The country’s food security also depends on yields. He said many risks could be minimized. For example, there are drought-resistant crops.
He also stressed the need to increase irrigated areas. Each region has its own cultivated land diversification indicators.
He assured the Government took necessary measures to ensure spring sowing. 140 billion tenge will be allotted for the Ken dala soft lending program. 100 billion tenge will be allocated from local budgets to grant an additional 425 billion tenge for spring sowing and harvesting campaigns. 340,000 tons of concessional diesel will be provided. 40 billion tenge will be channeled for forward purchases and 95.4 billion tenge in subsidies.
