WNAM MONITORING: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with several prominent figures on Wednesday in Ashgabat. Among them were Husrev Noziri, the Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States, and David Haggerty, the head of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), along with Yuri Polsky, President of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF).
During the meeting with the Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), both sides expressed interest in exploring the prospects of multi-dimensional relations between Turkmenistan and the organization. It was also noted that Turkmenistan is ready to significantly diversify natural gas supplies to consumers and transit carriers within the ECO framework.
Furthermore, the Turkmenistan’s President invited the ECO to actively participate in harnessing the transit potential of the country, utilizing transportation corridors like the North-South and East-West routes.
The discussions with the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), deliberated the current situation and future prospects of traditional cooperation, based on mutual interests. President Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the full potential of cooperation with the organization has not been realized yet and expressed support for establishing more effective bilateral relations in line with Turkmenistan’s current conditions and capabilities.
The celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Pyragy in Turkmenistan was discussed during the meeting with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States. President Berdimuhamedov stated that Turkmenistan supports the active participation of the organization in these events and confirmed readiness to consider positive proposals to elevate joint cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
During the meeting with the President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), David Haggerty, and the President of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), Yuri Polsky, President Berdimuhamedov was presented with a certificate from the International Tennis Federation. The President also emphasized readiness to support initiatives and proposals from the ITF and ATF for further development of tennis in Turkmenistan and worldwide.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization and the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the international conference “Key Directions and Potential of Tourism Development in Turkmenistan.”
