WNAM MONITORING: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov hosted Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Ashgabat on Thursday, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media outlets.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to the President of Turkmenistan.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended best wishes to the leadership of Iran and expressed confidence in the effectiveness of the upcoming negotiations with Turkmen colleagues during the current visit.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized Iran’s significance as one of Turkmenistan’s key partners in trade and economic cooperation, highlighting the importance of the joint Turkmen-Iranian Economic Cooperation Group.
According to official Turkmen media reports, the activities of the Turkmen-Iranian group aim to coordinate specific measures for implementing projects in Turkmenistan’s power and transportation systems. Special attention was also given to the importance of exploring new forms and methods of cooperation in the fuel and energy complex, as well as enhancing relations in the areas of energy export and transit in accordance with modern requirements.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian wished each other good health and success in their endeavors, expressing confidence that the friendly relations between the fraternal states, based on the principle of good neighborliness, would continue to expand and strengthen in all mutually beneficial areas.
On the same day, the national leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
