BERLIN/GENEVA/DUBLIN : Thousands took to the streets Saturday in Berlin, Dublin and Geneva to condemn Israel’s attacks on Gaza and show support for Palestine.

Protesters denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide and demanded an immediate and permanent cease-fire.

Approximately 2,000 people gathered at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin to protest Israel’s airstrikes on Gaza and express solidarity with Palestine.

Protesters marched to the federal parliament Bundestag, chanting slogans such as “Germany is financing, Israel is bombing”, “Shame on you,” and “No weapons to Israel.”

Some were temporarily detained for identity checks after allegedly chanting provocative slogans questioning Israel’s right to exist.

Others carried banners and signs with messages such as “Stop supporting Israel with my taxes” and “As Jews, we call for an end to supporting genocide.”

In Geneva, thousands participated in a march in support of Palestine. Demonstrators gathered at Place de Neuve Square and marched through the city center for hours.

Carrying Palestinian flags and posters expressing support for Palestinians, protesters chanted slogans against Israel.

Demonstrators, who described the events in Gaza as genocide, demanded an urgent and permanent cease-fire. The route of the march was met with applause by residents.

Protesters frequently chanted slogans against US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The approximately two-hour march concluded in front of the UN Office in Geneva.

Police took extensive security measures during the march.

Additionally, a protest was held at the Garden of Remembrance Park in Dublin that was organized by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign. It attracted a large number of participants.

Carrying Palestinian and Irish flags, demonstrators marched to Kildare Street.

The protesters urged an end to Israel’s attacks on Gaza, holding banners with slogans such as “Boycott Apartheid Israel” and “Freedom & Justice for Palestine.”

Members of various organizations, including Teachers for Palestine, Together for a Just World and Mothers Against Genocide, also participated in the demonstration.
