The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations states that more than a thousand Afghan migrants returned to the country after being expelled from Pakistan.
In a newsletter released on Saturday, April 27th, the ministry says that a total of 1,243 Afghan migrants returned to the country following forced deportation.
According to the ministry statement, on April 25th and 26th, migrants returned to the country through the Torkham border crossing in Nangarhar province and Spin Boldak in Kandahar province.
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations states that returnees include families and singles, and the mentioned migrants have been referred to the offices of the International Organization for Migration, the World Food Programme, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for assistance.
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations has reported the return of migrants from Iran in recent months, as the wave of expulsions of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan has increased in recent months.
Neighboring countries like Iran and Pakistan, along with Turkey, have intensified the forced deportation of Afghan migrants in recent times.
This escalation in deportation efforts coincides with a severe humanitarian crisis unfolding in Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
The returnees face numerous challenges upon arrival, including lacking basic amenities, medical care, shelter, and employment opportunities.
