The 2024 Numbeo ranking of the cost of living in African cities reveals that Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, takes the lead with an index of 46.7, followed by Harare, Zimbabwe (37.4), and Johannesburg, South Africa (36.1). South African cities Cape Town, Pretoria, and Durban also rank among the most expensive. Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech in Morocco, as well as Algiers, Algeria, complete the top 10.
