ISLAMABAD ( WNAM REPORT): Allama Iqbal Open University has secured first position among 91 universities in Pakistan and seventh position among 2175 universities worldwide in the SDG4 (Quality Education) impact ranking released by Times Higher Education for the year 2024. This reflects our special focus on enhancing the quality of education,” expressed the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, while addressing the ceremony celebrating the honor of ranking in educational quality. The Vice-Chancellor directed ORIC and other relevant departments to intensify efforts to advance in the SDG targets where we are lagging and to maintain the positions we have achieved. Dr. Nasir Mahmood further emphasized that now the university will give special attention to promoting a culture of research to achieve excellence in this field as well. He instructed the heads of service departments to provide more facilities to students so that they do not face any issues in acquiring education.
Dr. Saima Nasir, Additional Director Research, Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization, , gave a detailed presentation on achieving positions in quality education, stating that last year the university ranked 25th among 1304 universities in the world in quality education, while this year it has secured the 7th position among 2175 universities.
Moving from 25th to 7th position in one year is the result of the efforts of the Office and the recent initiatives by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood to enhance the quality of education. The participants of the ceremony congratulated Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood and Dr. Saima Nasir on achieving first and seventh positions in the ranking of educational quality. The event was attended by all the four deans, professors, and principal officers of the university. At the end of the ceremony, a cake was cut to celebrate.
