WNAM MONITORING: The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan unveiled the plans of increasing Russian gas transit to Uzbekistan.
Kazakhstan started transiting Russian gas to Uzbekistan in October 2023.
According to the Ministry, 1.28 billion cubic meters of gas were transited through Kazakhstan in October-December 2023.
“This year, we plan to raise transit volumes to 3.8 billion cubic meters with further increase to 11 billion cubic meters per annum,” said Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev at the Government’s weekly meeting.
The issue of delivering Russian gas to Kyrgyzstan via the territory of Kazakhstan is also being considered now, he added.
The transit of Turkmen and Uzbek gas to China is rising as well. In 2024, Kazakhstan plans to raise gas transit to 37.1 billion cubic meters which is 1.5 billion more compared to year 2023 indicators.
