WNAM MONITORING: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received minister of science and higher education Sayassat Nurbek.
During the meeting, the Kazakh President was presented with a number of initiatives and projects aimed at promoting higher education and science in the country.
As the minister said, so far there are 25 branches of foreign universities across the country, which positions Kazakhstan as an educational and science hub of the region. Agreements are in place with foreign partners aimed at transforming regional state universities into research universities with international education standards.
This year, the country has embarked on implementing new student financial support instruments, including the unified voluntary saving system Keleshek, National Fund for Children, preferential educational loans, and differential grants, seeking to ensure access to higher education for all layers of population.
Minister Nurbek also spoke about AI promotion, highlighting up to 2,000 students are taught artificial intelligence at eight universities under 15 educational programs. In order to develop the human resources capacity for the digital economy, cooperation has been established with transnational companies such as Google, Nvidia, Coursera, 01 Edu System and Huawei. There are plans to allocate 100 scholarships under the Bolashak program to train specialists in the AI field.
In conclusion, President Tokayev gave a number of instructions regarding the promotion of higher education and science infrastructure, including construction of dormitories.
