WNAM REPORT: The 62nd meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Caspian Sea Issues was held yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the meeting was attended by the relevant deputy prime ministers, heads and representatives of a number of ministries and relevant departments of the country.
The participants discussed the “Caspian Environmental Initiative” put forward by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the plenary session of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly and intended to become a new international platform for substantive and professional interaction on a wide range of issues related to the protection of the Caspian environment. Information was also provided on the results of the Interdepartmental Commission’s work for the first half of the year according to the plan for 2024. Particular emphasis was placed on upcoming tasks.
Preparations for the Caspian Sea Day, which is celebrated annually on August 12, were discussed separately.
