WEB DESK: The state border line between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan has been 94 percent described, and it is expected that the border will be opened soon, after three years. The head of Sughd region of Tajikistan Rajabboy Akhmadzoda said at a press conference on July 26, as per reports.
The commission on describing the border line between the two countries has been working since 2022.
«As of today, 94 percent of the border line has been fully described. We believe that the issue will be resolved positively in the near future,» Akhmadzoda said.
On July 21-24, representatives of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan visited the disputed territories in Chorkuh and Vorukh to continue work on describing the border. Akhmadzoda noted the active work of the commission and expressed hope for the soon signing of documents.
The head of Sughd region did not specify where the remaining six percent of the disputed territories are located. However, he said that the next meeting of the commission would be held in Batken city, Kyrgyzstan, from August 11 to August 17.
Recall, the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan is closed after clashes that occurred on September 14-17, 2021.
