WNAM REPORT: In Ashgabat, at the Museum of Fine Arts, a scientific and practical conference “Issues of the formation of national crafts and world practice” was held, and within its framework an exhibition of works of folk crafts was organized .
According to “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, the purpose of the conference is to update traditional folk crafts, create conditions for the development and preservation of decorative and applied arts in modern society.
Speakers at the conference were: Director of the Museum of Fine Arts Ismail Orazov, Head of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan Jamilya Kurbanova.
Craftsmen made presentations on the importance of preserving and passing on national culture through the experience of their craft activities to the younger generation. The plans of the artisan community include the creation of a Crafts Center in Turkmenistan.
