WNAM REPORT: Ambassador of Uzbekistan Oybek Shakhavdinov met with the Director of the Drought Prevention Institute under the Organization of Turkic States, Head of the Office of International Affairs at the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency Laszlo Orlos.
At the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation in drought prevention and mitigation, exchange of experience and technology, and strengthening interaction in this area were discussed.
The parties noted the importance of joint efforts to combat the challenges posed by global climate change, especially for countries such as Uzbekistan, where drought and desertification remain relevant.
The prospects for the Uzbek side to participate in programs and projects implemented by the Drought Prevention Institute and possible initiatives to develop regional drought monitoring and early warning networks were discussed.
Laszlo Orlos expressed the Institute’s readiness to support Tashkent’s initiatives in this area and emphasized the importance of cooperation with relevant ministries and agencies, as well as research institutions and organizations of Uzbekistan.
