WNAM MONITORING: The city of Minsk hosted a regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS states, which was joined by Kazakh Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the country’s ministry.
The event followed a meeting of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko with the delegation heads, where the importance of boosting cooperation between law enforcement bodies in countering new challenges and threats was highlighted.
In the meeting, Kazakh Interior Minister Sadenov informed his colleagues on the implementation of the decisions adopted during the previous meeting in Turkestan as part of the presidency of the Council, the country assumed last year.
Among the issues raised were improvement of search operations, combating organized crime, drug trafficking and cybercrimes, as well as measures aimed at increasing road safety as well as safety at railway transport facilities.
Special attention was attached to the betterment of the efficiency of cooperation regarding the specific areas of activity of the interior ministries of the CIS countries.
During the meeting, Minister Sadenov handed over the presidency of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS states to Belarusian Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Ivan Kubrakov.
The attendees of the event included the representatives of the interior ministries of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Executive Committee, Bureau for the Coordination of the Fight Against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crimes on the Territory of the CIS, and the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.
