WNAM REPORT: Today, at a meeting of the Territorial Election Commission of Surkhandarya region, the issue of forming district election commissions for holding elections to the regional Councils of People’s Deputies was discussed.
The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of the Territorial Election Commission Zebuniso Alimardonova.The compositions of district election commissions were approved. They consist of the chairman, his deputy, and secretary, and 6-8 members recommended by the city and district Councils of People’s Deputies.
50 out of the 478 approved members of district election commissions created in the districts of the region and the city of Termez, 383 participated in the previous elections and gained sufficient experience. 95 people are participating in the polls for the first time. 247 candidates are representatives of the public education sector, 17 of the higher education system, 100 of other state bodies and institutions, 51 of local government bodies, 29 of public organizations and 21 of other non-state areas of activity, and 13 of NGOs. At the same time, 190 candidates are women. The district election commissions included 258 teachers, 59 economists, 42 engineers, 33 doctors, 7 lawyers, 3 journalists, 76 specialists of other professions.
Other issues related to the activities of the Territorial Election Commission were also discussed at the meeting.
