ĐÀ NẴNG( WNAM MONITORING): The central city will host the first ever semiconductor forum, Semicon Day Đà Nẵng 2024 on August 29-30, promoting their strategically ambitious plan for the development of the semiconductor and AI industries.

Part of Đà Nẵng’s Master Plan 2030-45, the Director of the city’s Investment Promotion Agency, Huỳnh Thị Liên Phương said the event would host 600 participants and businesses working in the semiconductor and AI industries, electronic manufacturing, information technology and chip design, along with human resources training bases and investment funds.

The event will include an investment conference on business matching, a field trip and networking among enterprises and training institutions.

There will be a series of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on semiconductor and AI co-operation, manpower training and working spaces, signed among investors in the globally booming industry.

Đà Nẵng City developed the country’s first semiconductor Research, Design Training & AI Centre (DSAC) to catch the wave of the new industry, within its Master Plan 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Director of DSAC, Lê Hoàng Phúc said Đà Nẵng would mark August 30 as the Semicon Day – an annual official event in building semiconductor and AI as a core industry for future green and sustainable growth.

According to DSAC, MoUs on co-operation will be inked by them and Qualcomm, the city’s information and communication department and Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI), along with a trio of cooperation deals between Đà Nẵng City with Synopsys and Viettel and Đà Nẵng-Synopsys-Sovico.

Đà Nẵng City’s information and communication department will sign MoUs on working space for offices of Marvell, Synopsys, LG and Ubisoft at the Đà Nẵng Software Park No 2.

It’s expected that two letters of intent on cooperation will be inked between Arizona State University of the US with DSAC and the Đà Nẵng Institute for socio-economic development (DISED) during the Semicon Day.

The Đà Nẵng Software Park No 2 (SP2) will be recognised as a centralised information technology (CIT) zone by the Government and the certification will be handed at the event, the city’s Information and Communications Department said.

Three CIT Zones have already been recognised in 2017-24, including the Đà Nẵng Software Park, the Đà Nẵng Information Technology Park (DITP) – the central Việt Nam’s ‘Silicon Valley’ design – and the FPT Complex.

The city will present an investment proposal to local investor Sovico at the event.

A networking session on human resources supply will be joined by local software exporter FPT Group, Việt Nam-Korea Information and Technology University, Arizona State University, K&H MFG company from Taiwan, Infineon Technologies, FCC Partners, Tecotec Group, Qorvo Việt Nam Inc, Việt Nam National Innovation Centre, the Việt Nam Semiconductor Community and local universities in science and technology.

K&H MFG company from Taiwan will introduce proposals on co-operation between Đà Nẵng and Chung Yuan Christian University, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology from Taiwan for future manpower supply in the semiconductor space.

Arizona State University, in cooperation with Đà Nẵng’s DSAC will announce the enrollment in the first training sessions in Assembling, Testing and Packaging (ATP).

Meanwhile, certificates will be given to the first trainees from a training course in chip design, which was organised by DSAC, Synopsys and the Việt Nam-Korea Information and Technology University.

Đà Nẵng has hosted paid investment promotion tours to Intel, Marvell Technology Group and Synopsys, the US, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Europe in 2024, inviting semiconductor investment into the city.

The city’s leadership also urged the US to support Đà Nẵng in building a centre of ATP and semiconductor industry development.

South Korea’s Samsung and Đà Nẵng City’s Duy Tân University established a Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC), and is supporting two businesses – Trung Nam Group and Tân Long Paper and Package company – in building the first smart factories in Đà Nẵng.

The city’s hi-tech park and industrial zones authority, in cooperation with Sun Education company and Duy Tân University, also agreed on education of semiconductor design with international standard.

Partners from Việt Nam and Korea inked five deals on cooperation and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in medical, healthcare and becoming a smart city in Đà Nẵng.
