WNAM MONITORING: The Director of the RATS SCO Executive Committee, R. Mirzayev, delivered a speech at the Tenth International Scientific and Practical Conference of the RATS SCO and the Second CIS Conference on Combating Terrorism and Extremism in Tashkent.
Current geopolitical processes are creating new challenges to the security and sovereignty of states, primarily the SCO and CIS countries, which is especially relevant in the context of the high level of terrorist threats from ISIS, Al Qaeda, and other gangs, the speaker emphasized.
It was also noted that after the current government came to power in Afghanistan, effective measures are being taken to establish control and neutralize terrorist groups still operating in the country. This circumstance, in turn, actualizes the issue of comprehensive support and assistance to the Kabul authorities’ efforts to improve measures to counter security threats, which is essential not only for Afghanistan, but also for its neighboring countries.
Attention was also focused on the fact that social networks and instant messengers continue to be the main tools of propaganda activities of terrorists and recruiters. Media activists of the “terrorist international” are improving the forms and methods of activity in this area and adapting it to changing conditions, using modern IT technologies and methods of influencing the audience and mastering the latest methods of disseminating extremist materials.
In these conditions, holding the current event in this format testifies to the common understanding in the SCO and CIS space of security threats that require developing a unified approach in the fight against terrorism, concluded Mr. Mirzayev.
