WNAM REPORT: Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev together with a Kyrgyz delegation visited the world’s largest hydroelectric power plant “Three Gorges” located in Hubei Province of the People’s Republic of China, as per reports.
The delegation included Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev, heads and specialists of specialized state bodies, including the “Directorate of Power Plants under Construction”, and “Electric Power Plants”.
Chinese power engineers, including representatives of the Department of External Relations of Hubei Province, told the Kyrgyz delegation about the Three Gorges HPP and its activities.
During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation in the field of hydropower, after which the Chinese side was invited to visit Kyrgyzstan and consider the possibility of building an HPP in the country.
Three Gorges is the largest hydropower plant in the world, located on the Yangtze River in China. According to Chinese energy officials, the total capacity of the hydropower plant is 22,250 MW. The dam is 185 meters high and 2.3 km long.
