BELGRADE: Bosnian leader Denis Becirovic said Wednesday that the suffering of Palestinian civilians, including children, is horrific and what is happening in Gaza represents “a heavy defeat of collective humanity in the 21st century.”
“All human lives are equally valuable. Civilized people must fight for the human rights of all people, regardless of their racial, religious, ethnic or other affiliation,” Becirovic said in his address to the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
He pointed out that the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine have dragged humanity into a deep crisis and uncertainty.
“It is time to say that human life is more important than weapons,” he added.
Becirovic recalled that Bosnia and Herzegovina experienced war in the early 90s.
“Despite everything that has happened, people in my country want peace and cooperation. We defend humanity and solidarity. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a story of hope, courage and unity…Unfortunately, we live in a world where injustice, insecurity and intolerance prevail. Humanity has never felt as insecure as it does today,” he said.
