WNAM REPORT: Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Ian Borg, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Malta, and the current Chairperson of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. During the meeting, Turkmenistan’s contributions to achieving the OSCE’s goals were acknowledged.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Ian Borg expressed his gratitude for the successful organization of OSCE leadership visits to Turkmenistan and emphasized the importance of the upcoming OSCE Ministerial Council meeting, scheduled for later this year.
The two parties also discussed prospects for further development of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Malta.
On the same day, Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Ambassador Helga Schmid, the former Secretary General of the OSCE. The participants acknowledged Ambassador Schmid’s significant role in strengthening Turkmenistan’s cooperation with the OSCE, particularly in key areas such as regional security, climate change, and digitalization.
Ambassador Schmid stressed the importance of Turkmenistan’s initiatives to bolster its partnership with the Organization, and both sides discussed further prospects for advancing these relations.
