The European culinary festival “Taste of Europe” has been held in Baku, organized by the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan.
Representatives from the embassies of Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, and Sweden in Azerbaijan participated in the event.
The main goal of the festival is to introduce Baku residents to an integral part of European culture – national cuisine.
EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko delivered a welcome speech at the opening of the festival.
“The European Union has established a strong partnership with Azerbaijan in various fields. We are pleased to present European culinary traditions to our Azerbaijani friends. Azerbaijan is widely known for its rich cuisine, and holding such a culinary journey through European countries helps to further strengthen ties between Azerbaijan and the EU. A special feature of today’s festival is the demonstration of a sustainable approach to the use of products,” said Michalko.
As part of the event, there are concerts by local musicians performing Azerbaijani and European musical pieces, as well as masterclasses and quizzes, where participants can win the Taste of Europe book published by the EU Delegation.
This is a collection of traditional recipes from 27 EU member countries, translated into Azerbaijani.
The festival is being held in Baku for the second year in a row.
