WNAM REPORT: Telenor Pakistan, in collaboration with Shifa Foundation, organized a Breast Cancer Awareness session for its entire workforce at its 345 Campus in Islamabad. A large number of employees from across the country attended the event, which aimed to provide crucial information on breast cancer, including risk factors, prevention strategies, and the importance of early detection to reduce mortality and support patients.

The session underscored a critical issue: the lack of awareness, which often leads to delayed diagnoses, prevailing as a major obstacle in combating breast cancer. Participants were informed about the life-saving benefits of early detection and proactive health measures.

Areej Khan, Chief People Officer of Telenor Pakistan, addressed the gathering and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to promoting health awareness. She stated, “At Telenor, we believe that raising awareness about critical health issues is more than a responsibility; it’s the foundation for building a healthier community and eventually, society. As a socially responsible organization, we are committed to equipping individuals with crucial knowledge to spread within their families and communities, ensuring that life-saving information reaches those who need it.”

Dr. Sana Sayeed, Consultant Radiologist at Shifa International Hospital, delivered an insightful presentation on the pivotal role of screening and early detection of breast cancer in saving lives. She highlighted that Pakistan has the highest incidence of breast cancer among Asian countries, with approximately 1 in 9 women at risk of diagnosis during their lifetime. However, early detection can dramatically improve survival rates, with chances of survival rising to 90%. Dr. Sayeed commended Telenor Pakistan’s initiative, stating, Such efforts send a powerful message that catapults widespread awareness and could ultimately save lives.
