Banda Aceh, ( WNAM MONITORING): President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has expressed the hope that the Indonesian economy will grow better during the presidency of President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who will be inaugurated soon.
President Jokowi made the statement at the inauguration of the Amanah Youth Creative Hub building in Aceh Besar, Aceh, on Tuesday.
He noted that Indonesia’s economic growth was recorded at 5.08 percent in 2023, and it is projected to remain above five percent in 2024.
However, he said that Indonesia is currently facing global uncertainties, first, because the global economy is estimated to grow by just 2.6 or 2.7 percent this year and 2.7–2.8 percent next year.
“Many countries have slipped into a recession, developed countries have slipped into a recession,” the President noted.
Second, the global uncertainties are also related to geopolitics, given the ongoing conflicts between countries, such as Israel and Palestine as well as Israel and Lebanon, he underlined.
In addition, there is the threat of climate change, which has been reflected by storms and extreme heat, among other phenomena.
These conditions have led to strict competition between countries, he observed.
“To this end, for us to be able to compete with other countries, the key is creating excellent human resources,” he highlighted.
Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be inaugurated as the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024–2029 period on October 20, 2024, at the Nusantara Building, Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta.
It has been confirmed that President Jokowi will attend the inauguration ceremony.
Prabowo and Gibran won the 2024 Presidential Election with 96,214,691 votes, or 58.59 percent of the valid votes polled.
