There is a visible opposition in the country from some political elements against the imposition of agriculture Income tax. The plea taken by them is that it will break the backbone of the poor peasants. Now nothing can be farther from truth than this excuse. Nothing will happen to the peasants. If anything is going to happen, it will happen to the landlords who are living a lavish life in bungalows and farm houses spread over many kanals of land who and their family fly in chartered planes to Dubai for shopping at the drop of the hat who sport more than one luxury vehicle whose offspring either study abroad or in those educational institutions in the country where tuition fee is charged in dollars instead of rupees.
Democracy in the true sense of the word cannot strike roots in this country unless dynastic politics is put to an end from every political party of the country.
There are many young talented and well educated persons in every political party blessed with political acumen but since they aren’t blue eyed boys of the parties ‘ chiefs, they are not appointed on key positions inside the political parties where the party chief appoints their next of kin with the sole objective that when their time is up the position of the party’s head will remain in their family.
In other words parliamentary democracy in this country is akin to a no monarchy, a personal fiefdom. Even most of the religious parties too practise dynastic politics.
