WNAM MONITORING: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is participating in the first meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the new convocation.
In his speech, the Head of state sincerely congratulated the newly elected members of the Senate, who have won high trust, and expressed hope that they will use all their knowledge and experience, strength, and potential to build a New Uzbekistan and ensure a peaceful, free, and prosperous life for our people.
It was noted that following the results of the elections, the composition of the Senate of the fifth convocation was formed at a qualitatively high level – from among representatives of leading spheres and industries, well-known figures in politics, economics, science and culture.
Every third senator has an academic degree. The fact that about 27 percent, or 16 of them, are women is of great importance in protecting the rights of the family, motherhood and childhood, women, legislative activity on social issues in general, and strengthening parliamentary control.
