WNAM REPORT: The Geological Survey of Hunan Province in central China has announced the discovery of a large gold deposit valued at more than 600 billion yuan ($82.8 billion).
During exploration work, specialists discovered a branched network of more than 40 gold-bearing veins located at a depth of over two kilometers. According to preliminary estimates, the total volume of precious metal deposits at a depth of up to three kilometers exceeds one thousand tons.
The discovery is particularly relevant against the backdrop of growing demand for gold in China. Although gold production in the country increased by 0.84% in 2023 and reached 375.16 tons, consumption of the precious metal significantly exceeded this figure, amounting to 1089.69 tons, which is 8.78% more than the previous year.
