WEB DESK: Doha played host for the Qatar Travel Mart international tourist exhibition (QTM 2024), featuring the stand of Almaty, News Agency cites the city’s administration office.
The three-day exhibition, which gathered nearly 60 countries, with over 12,000 visitors, featured the stand of Almaty with the region’s natural landmarks and cultural sites on display. The guests were offered national treats, presented with Kazakh traditional outfits, and many more.
During the event, the Kazakh city of Almaty won the nomination for the Best Tourist Destination.
Alongside Visit Almaty, the city was represented by six domestic tour operators and Shymbulak ski resort.
Kazakhstani and foreign tour operators engaged in over 100 B2B meetings and signed 44 agreements, involving up to 13,000 foreign arrivals in Almaty. These agreements are set to boost business ties and promote international cooperation, aimed at increasing the tourist flow to Almaty.
The reason behind our participation in the exhibition is to familiarize international partners, investors and tourists with the rich tourist potential of Almaty, its unique natural landmarks, diversity of cultural and historic sites. Special attention was placed to the strengthening of the city’s position as a key tourist destination for residents of the Persian Gulf, as this particular market demonstrates the steadily high interest to the city, said Almas Akpayev, senior specialist of the tourism department of Almaty.
For her turn, Aisha Shakenova highlighted that the participation in such events allows to foster partnerships with foreign colleagues and promote the city in the international arena.
There are direct flights between Doha and Almaty, making travelling for tourists willing to familiarize with Kazakhstan much easier Following the meetings held, we expect that the interest to our city will grow significantly, she said.
