WNAM MONITORING: The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a telephone conversation on Thursday with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During their discussion, they addressed key areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade, energy, and water management.
Official media of Turkmenistan reported that the leaders emphasized the dynamic development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations, highlighting their high level of trust and mutual understanding.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked the Uzbek leader for initiating the talks and stressed that regular contacts serve as important evidence of the fraternal ties between the peoples of both countries.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev acknowledged the contribution of Turkmenistan to strengthening the partnership and emphasized the significance of joint projects, particularly in the gas sector. The leaders agreed to increase supplies of Turkmen natural gas to Uzbekistan and to implement new projects in this area.
Water management issues also played a crucial role in their discussions. The National Leader of the Turkmen people outlined Turkmenistan’s position based on international law, considering the interests of all countries in the region and involving relevant international organizations in the discussions. The Uzbek side expressed full support for these approaches.
They also paid special attention to cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as to implement previously reached agreements.
In closing, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev confirmed their readiness to further strengthen fraternal relations and exchanged wishes for success in their state activities.
