RAWALPINDI ( WNAM REPORT)The Convocation 2024 for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Foundation University School of Science and Technology (FUSST), was held at Topi Rakh Galaxy Hall, near Ayub Park, on December 11, 2024. Dr. Ata-ur-Rahman, renowned scientist and recipient of Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Rector, Major General (Retd) Muhammad Kaleem Asif, HI (M), and Pro Rector/Director Brig Dr. Abdul Ghafoor, (Retd) Foundation University School of Science and Technology, were also present.
A total of 520 students were awarded degrees, including 8 gold medals, 8 silver medals, 60 certificates of distinction, and 104 merit certificates.
The Pro Rector/Director of FUSST presented the annual report, highlighting significant milestones achieved by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This year, 520 degrees are being awarded across programs in psychology, media, computer arts, and English, with merit certificates introduced for MS graduates. FUSST’s PhD programs have produced 112 scholars, with over 120 currently pursuing advanced research.
The report emphasized the faculty’s role in global-quality research aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in well-being and quality education. With premier PhD and MS programs in psychology, linguistics, and media, the faculty is set to launch new offerings in applied psychology and multimedia arts.
FUSST continues to enhance education through updated curricula, adherence to HEC’s quality frameworks, and collaborations with leading institutions in the US, UK, and China. Infrastructure upgrades include new computer arts labs and plans for a cutting-edge neuro-cognitive lab.
Addressing the graduates, the Pro Rector encouraged them to become innovators, uphold ethical standards, and make meaningful contributions to society while honoring their parents’ sacrifices. He reaffirmed FUSST’s commitment to academic and research excellence.
Dr. Ata-ur-Rahman, the Chief Guest, congratulated the graduates, medal winners, and their parents for their hard work and achievements. He emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and urged graduates to transition into responsible professionals and leaders.
Dr. Rahman praised FUI’s commitment to arts and social sciences, recognizing its role in fostering holistic societal development. He underlined the importance of disciplines like psychology, media, and English in addressing societal challenges, promoting tolerance, and enhancing the quality of life. He reminded graduates to honor their parents for their sacrifices and unconditional support, urging them to cherish and care for their families throughout their lives. Dr. Rahman concluded with optimism, commending FUI’s progress and expressing confidence in the graduates’ potential to contribute positively to society and the global community. In the end, the Rector FUI presented the University Plaque to the worthy Chief Guest, marking the conclusion of a memorable event.
