WNAM MONITORING: The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution on a wide celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founder of the Jadid movement in Turkestan, an outstanding writer, public figure, publisher, and teacher Mahmudkhoja Behbudi’s birth.
According to the resolution, the organizing committee will prepare for publication and publish the collection “Selected Works” of the writer, popular science books dedicated to his life and work, stage performances, and organize a mass screening of the previously created film series “Mahmudkhoja Behbudi” and an artistic-documentary film from the “The Heart of the People” series.
The Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts will host exhibitions of works of fine art about the life and work of Behbudi, as well as about the activities of representatives of the Jadid movement in Turkestan.
It is also planned to hold and award the winners of an essay competition on “Lessons of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi” among secondary and creative school students, cadets of “Temurbeklar Maktabi”, and university students.
In addition, creative meetings and literary evenings dedicated to the life and work of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi will be organized with the participation of famous scientists and writers in educational institutions of all levels, libraries, work collectives, mahallas, and military units.
It is planned to widely popularize Behbudi’s works among young people through modern digital and information technologies.
In October 2025, an international scientific and practical conference “Current Issues of Studying the Legacy of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi and the Jadid Movement” is planned to be held at Samarkand State University named after Sharaf Rashidov, and in November 2025, a literary and enlightenment memorial evening dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Mahmudkhoja Behbudi’s birth will be held at the State Academic Grand Theater of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.
Along with this, it is planned to improve the territory of the Mahmudkhoja Behbudi house-museum in the city of Samarkand and enrich the museum’s exposition, as well as to name one of the streets of the city of Karshi after the outstanding writer and install a memorial plaque.
In addition, it is planned to create audiovisual works of the writer for posting on the Internet and social networks, as well as publish a series of articles in the media.
