The way fire brigade system tried to put down recent devastating wild fire in Los Angeles should be an eye opener for our local government institutions like municipal committees and corporations which are ill equipped to put down even minor fire in their bailiwick what to speak of big fires and they have to bank on the fire brigades of armed forces to extinguish.

It is about time all the local body institutions got their act together and reorganize their fire brigade system on modern lines as more often than not property worth billions of rupees is gutted in the country every year due to inability of the local bodies’ fire brigades to reach the place of occurrence and put down fire in time.
