LAHORE ( WNAM REPORT): :Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain here Wednesday chaired a video-link meeting to review the establishment of an industrial estate in Rawalpindi.
A delegation, led by Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Usman Shaukat, participated in the meeting via video-link and stressed the need for setting up an industrial estate in the area. The delegation pointed out that the absence of such an estate in Rawalpindi was hindering industrial development, citing that initiating this project was essential for promotion of industry in the region.
Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said that the government’s efforts to attract new investment in Punjab were yielding results. He added that accelerating the process of industrialisation could create more employment opportunities. The government was taking all necessary steps to promote industry in the province. He assured that the issues faced by industrialists are being resolved on a priority basis. It was decided that an industrial estate would be established on non-agricultural land in Rawalpindi, and later it could be given the status of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The minister directed for immediate commencement of work on this project.
The meeting was attended by Chairman PIEDMC Javed Iqbal, Director General Punjab Investment Board Dr. Sohail Ahmed, and other officials. The delegation included former RCCI presidents Asad Mashhadi and Saqib Rafiq along with executive committee members Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Akram and others.
