WNAM REPORT: Significant funds were allocated last year for the spring sowing campaign, harvesting operations and machinery leasing in Kazakhstan.
Concessional lending rose to 580 billion tenge with 5% per annum that is 3.5 times more compared to the previous years. It let farmers increase the share of elite seeds from 7.1% to 9%.
Small and medium farm businesses that constitute 90% of credit users received resources for further growth. Kazakhstan collected a record high 26.7 million tons of grain crops, while crop production and cattle breeding increased by 21.1% and 3.2% correspondingly helping boost farm produce by 13.7% to 8.3 million tenge.
Over 1.1. million people are engaged in the country’s agro-industrial complex which has an impact on the wellbeing of 4 million people. Agriculture remains the key economic and social sector. The Head of State stressed the need to switch to a deeper processing of farm products to bolster the country’s growth.
Foodstuff production made 3.2 trillion tenge in 2024, and the share of processed goods reached 40%. A plan was developed to increase the share of processing up to 70% by 2028. 286 projects worth 279.6 billion were already commissioned last year.
570 projects worth 2.1 trillion tenge will be developed by 2027. It will generate new jobs and improve rural infrastructure.
To note, Kazakhstan remains the region’s largest grain exporter with annual exports hitting 8-9 million tons. Last year the country exported 8.1 million tons. The conventional sales markets include Central Asia, Afghanistan, China, Turkiye, Iran, etc.
It is worth reminding Kazakhstan was projected to harvest record-high crops of sugar beets.
