WNAM REPORT: Elections were conducted successfully in all districts, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan, Mazahir Panahov, said at a briefing on the results of municipal elections held on January 29, report informs.
Panahov stated that no complaints were submitted to the CEC:
“1,589,187 people voted across 4,872 polling stations where protocols have been received. 1,580,532 ballots have been counted.”
The chairman noted that 4,872 out of 5,846 polling stations across 118 electoral districts have already reported before the CEC.
According to him, the number of leading candidates is 7,791: “413 out of 685 municipalities are considered to have been formed.”
Voting in the municipal elections in Azerbaijan ended at 19:00 (GMT+4) on January 29. As many as 1,874,810 voters exercised their right to vote in the municipal elections, bringing the voter turnout to 31.45%.
