WNAM MONITORING: As part of his official visit to Kuala Lumpur, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim participated in a joint business forum.
The event gathered over 200 executives and representatives from leading companies, investment firms, banking, and financial institutions from both countries. The Malaysian business sector was represented by companies such as Petronas, MMC Corporation, DRB-Hicom, Gemilang Coachwork, Proton, Gentari, Five Petroleum, YTL Corporation, Sunview Group, KPJ Healthcare, MK Tron, Mimos, Sparco Engineering, Tradewinds Group, Kapital DX, Gamuda, Westports, Khazanah, Export-Import Bank of Malaysia, and many others.
In his speech, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized that today’s productive high-level negotiations resulted in an agreement to launch two years of innovative development in partnership between Uzbekistan and Malaysia. Additionally, key priority areas for practical cooperation were identified.
It was noted with great satisfaction that last year saw the establishment of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council and the organization of several significant events involving businesses from both countries.
Despite the geographical distance, opportunities in transportation and logistics continue to expand. Direct flights between the capitals are now operated almost daily.
The existing potential was thoroughly analyzed during the negotiations, and new growth points for the multifaceted partnerships were identified.
Agreements were reached to significantly increase trade turnover, develop a Preferential Trade Agreement, and organize mutual exhibitions and trade fairs. A solid portfolio of joint projects has been formed, and an Industrial Cooperation Program has been developed.
“Our goal is to elevate relations to the level of a strategic partnership”, the President emphasized.
Malaysia is a key innovation and technology partner for Uzbekistan. In this context, the Head of state outlined several priority areas for further development of business cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
First and foremost is expanding long-term collaboration in electronics and the semiconductor industry. The potential for implementing projects in artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and data center development was highlighted.
Another crucial area is gas chemistry and the chemical industry. Work is already underway on strategic projects for producing polymers, green hydrogen, and ammonia.
The rapid growth of the construction industry has created a high demand for innovative and environmentally friendly building materials. The President of Uzbekistan invited Malaysian companies to take an active role in establishing modern manufacturing facilities and participating in large-scale construction projects across the country’s regions.
The prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in healthcare were also highlighted, particularly in constructing modern clinics and producing innovative pharmaceutical products based on Malaysia’s advanced expertise.
Significant opportunities were noted in food security. In this context, interest was expressed in implementing joint projects focused on smart agriculture technologies, organic food production, and the adoption of halal standards.
The Head of state also invited leading Malaysian companies and banks to actively participate in privatizing state assets in Uzbekistan’s telecommunications, energy, banking, and financial sectors, among others.
Additionally, significant potential for cooperation was noted in geology, education, transportation, and pilgrimage tourism.
The President welcomed the strong interest of Malaysian entrepreneurs in implementing joint investment projects and their willingness to share technology and expertise.
In this context, it was announced that a special economic zone will be established in Tashkent region under the management of a Malaysian company.
In conclusion, the Head of state proposed holding the next joint business forum in Uzbekistan this autumn.
